Meet the Owners

Mike grew up in Colorado but spent every summer coming to Oklahoma to visit family. His dad was born in Foyil, OK but service to his country landed him in Colorado where he eventually ended up working at a cabinet shop. On weekends, his dad would have Mike and his siblings help with projects which in turn spawned a life-long love of woodworking. Straight out of high school, Mike started work building and installing countertops for a company in Colorado Springs. From there his journey took him to cabinet design and installs. In 2012, Mike started M R Custom Installs as a one-man operation with the sole intent of installing cabinets. Since then, the business has evolved and grown to encompass custom woodworking and our own cabinet line. When he's not working or creating in his shop, you can find Mike with a fishing pole in hand, hanging out with his cousins or talking to his young grandsons.

Amanda was born in South Carolina but her family moved to Colorado when she was just 6 years old. She spent her childhood summers travelling throughout the lower 48 with her family. At 15, she was chosen as a Student Ambassador and spent a month  travelling through England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. At 17, she spent a month in France. During high school, she introduced her mama (who happens to be her best friend) to the world of ballroom and Latin dance and the two travelled across the U.S. competing.  In 2014, Amanda joined M R Custom Installs to run the office side of things. Her experience as a personal banker gives her invaluable knowledge that helps with record keeping, spreadsheets and finances. Today she is co-owner of M R Custom Installs and you will find her in the office, on jobsites and in the shop. When she's not working, Amanda enjoys camping, travelling, and talking to her mama.

Mike and Amanda met in 2014 when M R Custom Installs was only a year and a half old. Together they expanded the business to include custom woodworking, creating such items as mantels, beams, cabinets, built-ins and countertops in a one car garage. In 2017, they threw a backyard BBQ with a little bit of wedding mixed in. As the family expanded, so did the business and they moved to acreage with a large shop outside of Colorado Springs. During all of this time, Mike and Amanda made 2 or 3 trips to Oklahoma every year. They continuously talked about retiring in Oklahoma. In April 2023, they made the decision not to wait for retirement and by the end of June had relocated themselves and the business to Chelsea, OK.
